We had another gate crash Friday June 28th about 8 AM.
This was again caused by emergency vehicles responding, this time to a Medical Alert that thankfully turned out to be a false alarm.
Thanks to the good help from neighbor Tim Gallagher we were able to cut and drill the old gate arm and it was installed the same day.
Charlie Sciarini and I visited the firehouse again to discuss what we can do to prevent this in the future. We did find that their Emergency Code Sheet did have the wrong code and this is being corrected. We are also registering with Nassau Emergency Services so when the Alert is transmitted our code will also appear on the vehicle screens.
In their defense these first responders, not knowing the exact nature of the call, will sometimes enter the fastest way possible (drive thru gate) which is understandable.
So you know!

Does the fire department have a gate clicker? Or is that not an option in an emergency? Tom Gagne
