Crime Incident – Plantation Point – Sunday June 23rd

As most of you are aware, there was a police and ambulance activity here at around 2 AM Sunday morning. Police vehicles were also here on Sunday morning doing crime scene work. The residence, 1396 HPT, belongs to the Dinh family who live there with their son.

We hesitated reporting on this until we had the facts straight. To avoid any rumors or speculation, here is what happened.

1. This was a targeted attack stemming from an online internet gaming dispute – where neither person in the conflict ever met except online! 2. Some young crazed nutcase from NYC flew here to seek revenge.

3. He entered the neighborhood thru our front common area on foot. 4. He went to the Dinh residence and attacked their son at the front entrance. A struggle ensued and the perpetrator was brought down forcefully and restrained. The Nassau County Sheriffs arrived and took the perp into custody.

5. Their son was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and released.
6. The perp is now locked up and facing major felony counts with no bail.
7. This in no way was related to gang activity of any kind.

Our prayers go out the Dinh family for all their trauma and hopefully they can get back to a normal life.

Charlie Sciarini, the family, and I have had discussions with members of the Nassau Sheriff’s Department and have been assured this incident is an isolated one and our neighborhood is very safe. We are also blessed with a fantastic law enforcement group here in Nassau County!

Having said that, it pays to keep vigilant. Stay aware and if “you see something – say something”.
