PPCA Road Sealing Project – July 1 Update

IMPORTANT PLANTATION POINT COMMUNITY NOTICE:

Date: July 1, 2018

PPCA Road Sealing Project set to begin on Tuesday September 4, 2018 – the day after Labor Day.

The following information needs everyone’s attention – please review and spread the word.

Project Scope:

  • The project consists of crack filling and a double coat of sealant on PPCA Roads.
  • The project will begin on September 4thand last 6 days depending on weather.
  • The project cost is close to $30,000.
  • The project will be done by Shield’s Asphalt Co, Homosssa, FL – Kevin Shields President
  • The project will cause a major disruption in traffic flow, access to the neighborhood and will require everyone’s full cooperation.

Tentative Schedule as follows:

  • Tuesday Sept 4th– crack filling
  • Wednesday Sept 5th– crack filling
  • Thursday Sept 6th– Circle sealing
  • Friday Sept 7th– single lane road sealing
  • Saturday Sept 8th– single lane road sealing
  • Sunday Sept 9th– single lane road sealing

A detailed final road schedule will be communicated about a week before the project begins. It should be noted that single lane sealing will mean no access to your home if you’re on the side being sealed. While one lane remains open this will also be difficult when someone is attempting to go out and another vehicle is coming in.

Here are some important things to consider:

  1. This would be a great time to go on vacation if you have that option
  2. All deliveries will need to be cancelled during this time period – this means no Garbage pick up, UPS, FEDEX. Lawn and home services, etc. will be allowed in.
  3. There should be no home projects that require outside contractors during this period.
  4. We plan on providing parking in the front entrance yard area and will be asking Franklintown Community Association for permission to use their lot on the east end of Mission San Carlos with access thru their gate from First Coast Highway
  5. It is highly recommended that you plan on parking your vehicle in these areas and walk to your vehicle to assure you can get in and out during the project.
  6. This will require residents to perhaps walk thru your property to get to their vehicles so lets be good neighbors about this.
  7. We will make arrangements for special needs during the project and perhaps provide a golf cart to transport people to outside parking if required along with volunteers for other requirements.
  8. Get your shopping done before the project starts
  9. Obviously there will be no street parking during the project.
  10. Communication during this period will be key and we will have a good plan in place for this as we get closer.

Thanks to all and we look forward to everyone cooperating to make the project go as smooth as possible under the circumstances.

This too will pass!

Best regards on behalf of your PPCA Board
