Plantation Point IRMA Update:
Irma has come and gone setting a new record of two hurricanes in a one year period. The storm track was also worse than expected and Amelia Island was not spared her fury.
Plantation Point was blessed with no one hurt and no serious home damage. We did suffer a lot of downed trees and debris similar and probably worse than Matthew last year. We lost power Sunday night and it was restored on Wednesday around 6:30PM.
We had about 20 residents stay thru the storm and the clean up started Monday morning with the first task to clear the large oak that was blocking our entrance and exit on Plantation Point Drive. We are blessed also with our “go to” tree man – Paul Manning who got here right away Monday morning and we had the tree cleared by noon, with the help of a lot of the residents who stayed.
I was very proud of all the home owners who chipped in helped with the early clean up getting all roads open in short order. We have a great community with neighbors helping neighbors, which reflects on the great folks we have in the PPCA.
Paul Manning and his crew have been busy cleaning the debris and he expects to have most of it cleared out by this weekend. We had a small set back yesterday when his chipper broke down but it is now fixed and back in operation. We have focused on the road debris first and the last step will be to finish up the circle debris.
Paul has always been here for us and on behalf of the community we thank him for taking such good care of us. If you need additional tree work on your property, Paul can be reached at 904-556-1179.
Our Entrance Gate failed to open when the power went out and we had to remove the arm to allow access. We suspect that the PC control board is bad on the tower and have been waiting for Florida Door Control to fix it. We expect them here tomorrow and hopefully this will back to normal on Thursday.
We have tentatively scheduled our annual meeting for November 19th so mark your calendars. More to follow on this later.
Thanks to all for your help and understanding during this stressful period. In the end we all rocked!

Thanks to all — what great leadership, morale, and encouragement. We LOVE our neighborhood, and Irma brought out the best at Plantation Point. Now . . . how about a post-Irma drink-around??

Thanks for the update. Just wondering if I should empty all my plastic bags of debris before it is picked up? Thanks
